Former Frankie and Benny's in South Queensferry Set for Seafood Revival
Oct 14, 2024An abandoned restaurant in South Queensferry is poised for a new chapter following a planning application that could see it transformed into a seafood eatery.
The former Frankie and Benny's site at Ferrymuir, which closed its doors in March 2020, may soon welcome diners again. The premises have been vacant since the American-style diner shut down amid rising costs and changing consumer habits that led the parent company to announce the closure of nearly 30% of its loss-making venues.
The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack Ltd has submitted a planning application to Edinburgh Council, seeking permission for new signage—a move that signals the company's intention to breathe new life into the space. Directors Michelle and Jack Coghill are listed at the helm of the venture.
Once a popular spot for family celebrations and children's birthdays, the restaurant's revival is expected to boost the local economy and offer new dining options for residents and visitors alike.
