In a move that promises to breathe new life into South Queensferry, Council has granted planning permission for a groundbreaking project at the site north of Inchgarvie Lodge, Society Road, Port Edgar this week.

The development will transform existing listed buildings into a residential and small commercial hub, featuring 49 residential units, a cafe/restaurant, and serviced apartment.

The Museum of Scotland formally occupied the Site as storage space until 2011, when it became required as a working area for the construction of the Queensferry Crossing. Following the completion of the Queensferry Crossing in 2017, the Scottish Government made attempts to find a use or user for the site but was unable to find a suitable occupier.

Lar’s acquisition of the site was believed to provide the greatest extent of retention, preservation, and reuse of the existing listed buildings.
