Planning permission has been granted in principle for a new 60-bed care home on land 288 metres southwest of 10 Builyeon Road, South Queensferry.
The care home construction is expected to generate many jobs, both directly and indirectly, providing employment opportunities for residents. The development is understood to create the equivalent of 100 full-time local jobs.
The development will contribute to the local population's health by providing a care facility for local older people.
Morrison Community Care Group focuses on the quality of life of its residents and encourages exercise, movement, and social interaction to benefit their health.
The garden landscape is designed to encourage residents to use the garden, with sitting and walking paths and a putting green for additional exercise.
The care provided by Morrison Community Care will take into account suicide risk and will, in reality, target a much higher level of mental health.
The facility will boast a Club Lounge, Bistro, Champagne Bar, Hairdressing Salon and 4 Quiet Libraries.
A planning statement says :
"The development of a high-quality purpose-built care facility will make an essential contribution towards addressing specialist housing needs and increasing housing choice for both the local South Queensferry and wider West Edinburgh communities.
The proposal has been designed to enhance its immediate environment, consistent with the six qualities of successful places – Healthy, Pleasant, Connected, Distinctive, Sustainable and Adaptable. The nature and design of the proposed development is appropriate to its surrounds and will not detract from the existing character or amenity of the area."
