Queensferry Sports Community Hub Plans New Covered Padel Tennis Court
Jun 14, 2024Exciting plans have been unveiled to bring Europe’s fastest-growing sport, padel tennis, to South Queensferry.
The Queensferry Sports and Community Hub on Ashburnham Road has submitted a planning application to build a canopy-covered padel tennis court.
The new court will replace an underused five-a-side football pitch at the hub, which already offers a variety of sports facilities, including a seven-a-side pitch, a full-size pitch with three five-a-side pitches, and three tennis courts.
Padel tennis is a popular sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, played on a smaller, enclosed court. The covered court will allow year-round play, regardless of weather conditions.
Paul MacLeod, chairman of the hub, expressed excitement about the project, stating, "We are thrilled to bring padel tennis to South Queensferry. This new facility will be a fantastic addition, offering a fresh and exciting sport for people of all ages and abilities."
The planning application is currently under review, with a decision expected soon.
If approved, construction is set to begin later this year, and the court will open by next spring. The new facility promises to enhance the local sporting community and attract more members to the hub.
